Enterprising people migrate. Migration, entrepreneurship and development are three phenomena that have always gone hand in hand. Apparently, one cannot exist without the other. Over time, we have come to understand that enterprising migrants integrate successfully in society by setting up new businesses. With one foot in their country of origin and the other in their country of residence, they contribute to development in whichever society they live in. For many migrants starting one’s own business in their new country of residence is a logical decision. This enterprising character stimulates them to start a business in the country of origin after a while as well.

The IntEnt approach (developed by Triodos Facet) is innovative, as it blends business creation concepts with entrepreneurship development and financing of small and medium (starting) enterprises (SME). Concepts developed in various SME promotion and development programmes as well as in the area of migration, integration and development have been applied.

This book makes the know-how gained available to a wider public. The practical experience can serve as material for professionals and practitioners interested to set up similar programmes and to policy makers in search of ways to link Integration, Migration, Development and Entrepreneurship.
