Triodos Facet’s business development services aim to assist SME’s with all non-financial resources a company, business sector or industrial cluster may require. With over 15 years of experience, we have developed effective advisory and capacity building services, targeting micro and small enterprises, as well as the small to medium enterprise.

In our advisory work, as well as in tools we develop, we are practical and to the point. For us, understanding the reality of the entrepreneur and the business is key in developing and delivering effective business development services.

Where possible, we involve local experts in our work, to create synergies, to have accurate local knowledge available, and to ensure that knowledge and expertise remain available in the local context.

Our experts typically assist in:

Supply chain / value chain improvement programmes
Business support service packages for (M)FI clients
Capacity building within BMO’s (Business Membership Organisations, such as chambers of commerce, branche organisations, or business associations )
Pipeline development for investment funds, where possible making finance relevant and attractive for SME’s
Evaluation of business development programmes

Our clients are NGO’s and international donors, but also (micro) finance organizations, businesses or business organizations that have an interest in lifting a certain industry, cluster or value chain to a higher level.

BDS and finance for MSE’s: "Credit is not enough".
Access to both financial and business development services (BDS) can aid the growth of micro and small enterprises. A renewed interest in linking services is driven both by a concern that “credit is not enough” to generate bottom-up poverty reduction and by a new approach to BDS. Business services must be demand driven, managed in a sustainable manner, and diversified beyond management training. For success, linka ges must provide benefits to the three key actors involved: enterprises, BDS providers, and micro-finance institutions, and preferably be focused on a specific sector or business cluster.
