The Diversified Financial Services unit offers advisory services that make finance work for small entrepreneurs.

Finance can make things happen. But the challenge is to develop products that are accessible and meets the demand of entrepreneurs. Financial services must facilitate entrepreneurs to develop and implement businesses that add integral value to society. Triodos Facet is a specialist in strengthening banks and non-bank (micro) financial institutions. Besides advisory and consultancy work, we have hands-on experience in running financial services, such as banks, micro finance institutions and guarantee funds.

We offer advisory and capacity building services in the following areas:

1. Development of appropriate financial products like guarantee funds, matching grants funds and innovative loan and savings products.

2. Transformation processes whereby Microfinance Institutions (MFI) become banks or Non Governmental Organisations and projects become professional MFI.

3. Design of risk management tools for MFIs and capacity building therein.

4. Development and design of value-chain finance solutions.

5. Formulation and Evaluation of financial sector programs and projects.

6. Training in microfinance best practices and social and environmental performance measurement for MFIs.

In our assignments we always strive to build the capacity of local experts in order to transfer and exchange know-how. In our view this enhances the financial sector development in the different countries we work in because tools and experiences are exchanged and built upon.
