Cathelijne van Melle (1980) is an agricultural economist, graduated at Wageningen University with a specialisation in agricultural marketing in developing countries.

She has spent most of her professional life in Benin, West Africa, where she was involved in agricultural value chain research projects, notably in the fruits and vegetables sector. These value chain studies were focused on integrating product- and process quality issues in strategies for pro-poor value chain development. She has experience in working directly with farmers, farmer groups and traders. Other areas of experience are international agricultural trade and agro-processing.
